Singer Beyonce Knowles has called her new baby daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

Beyonce, 30, gave brith on Saturday night in a planned Ceasarean operation with rapper hubby Jay Z (real name Shawn Carter) at her side.

According to the tabloids, Beyonce is reported to have paid £840,000 for a whole floor of New York's Lenox Hospital. Staff were asked to hand in their mobile phones and security cameras were covered with tape.

Celebs have already sent their congratulations via Twitter. Actress and friend Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted: "Welcome to the world Blue. We love you already."

Cheryl Cole tweeted: "Congratulations to Beyonce and Jay on the birth of their first child."
