The Lowdown on Spiderman star Andrew Garfield
He's dating co-star Emma Stone!
The pair met on set and have been dating for a year. "In a weird way, the relationship made the love scenes more frightening," says Andrew. "But from the start we got on really well as people between takes."
He's an Essex boy, sort of!
Garfield was born in Los Angeles but his family moved to England when he was three years old. His Essex born mum and American dad sent him to the private City of London Freemen's School in Surrey. "I was very skinny at school and suffered when I had to play rugby. I always thought I should have been bigger for some reason."
He can relate to Spiderman!
"Because of my school years, I could always relate to Peter, that he felt stronger on the inside than he did on the outside."
Early career
Andrew made his TV debut aged 22 in the Channel 4 series Sugar Rush in 2005. In 2008 he won a BAFTA for his role in Boy A, a Channel 4 drama about a juvenile child-killer.
He also grabbed the attention of British audiences in the TV drama Red Riding in 2009 before landing his Oscar-nominated role in the movie The Social Network and Never Let Me Go opposite Keira Knightley.
In 2009 he also had a supporting role in the Terry Gilliam film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
