Programme Synopsis
At Holby City hospital, every day brings fresh dilemmas. The patients are one vital half of the story, the other is the lives of the regular staff. Like all workplaces there are rivalries, romance, tensions and fun.

Casualty at Holby City part one
Rushing to attend the birth of his child, a fuel tanker driver crashes into the hospital. An immediate evacuation is begun as the tanker leaks petrol into the hospital basement.
Casualty at Holby City part two
The Holby and Casualty casts join together for the first time in this episode. It’s already a hectic Boxing Day when a fuel tanker crashes into the hospital and staff become trapped in The Nightingale Wing.
Seven Days Later
Rosie awakes from sedation in maternity but can’t remember a thing. Mubbs pretends they are still an item. Will is thrown out of the canteen after protesting at the lack of food.
Actions Speak Louder
Jess is in shock after realizing Zubin is the father of her baby. Canteen staff are on strike over Will’s behaviour. Will is suspended from duty. Rosie tells Mubbs they’re finished.
Overload
A very sick Maggie (Sam Beckinsale) passes away. Connie makes Will apologise to the striking canteen staff and Zubin is unveiled as the new head of anaesthetics.
War and Peace
Zubin apologises to an unforgiving Jess about Paris. Jess decides to tell Zubin about the baby. Mickie tells Will she is gay but asks him to keep it a secret.
Live and Let Die
Jess tells Sean she doesn’t love him. Mickie tells Mubbs she’s gay. John Burgess (Brookside) guest stars as a man who tries to treat his wife’s depression, with disastrous results.
Thin Ice
Zubin is back as head of the new ITU dep. He’s shocked to learn that Jess is pregnant. Mickie develops a crush on Connie. Diane pesters Owen for a wedding date.
Stick or Twist
Chrissie tracks down her father Mark (Robert Powell) and begs him to return to Holby. Dominic Fryer pesters Diane for romance. Zubin can’t admit to Ric that he slept with Jess.
Chain Reaction
Mark comes in to see Chrissie but ends up helping out with the staff shortage. Chrissie encourages Mark to apply for a full-time nurse’s post. Sean tells Jess he loves her.
Another Car Wreck
Tricia is unhappy as Mark starts work at the hospital. Jess tells Sean the baby isn’t his. A battered wife has her baby induced early so her dying husband can hold his son.
Awakenings
Mark decides to leave Holby but Tricia changes her mind and says he can stay. Donna lies to get a bar job. Jess struggles as a single mum and accepts Sean’s offer of friendship.
Total Recall
It’s the day before Diane and Owen’s wedding and stag and hen parties are in full swing, accidentally at the same venue! Chrissie and Owen share a kiss, so do Mickie and Jodie.
Love and Marriage
Owen wakes up on his wedding day with Chrissie but says he still loves Diane. Chrissie tells Tricia she loves Owen and will stop the wedding. Jodie collapses at Mickie’s house.
Be Careful What You Wish For
Jess tells Zubin the baby isn’t Sean’s. Will offers his resignation but Chrissie convinces him to stay. Jodie seeks revenge on Will after he botched her operation in Sierra Leone.
Shock To The Heart
Connie fights to save Will in the operating theatre. Jodie tells Mickie she didn’t drive into Will on purpose. Sean proposes to Jess.
The Honeymoon Is Over
At Will’s funeral, his wife Susan accuses Connie of bullying him. Peter suggests that Connie resign. Will Chrissie tell Diane about Will’s infidelity? Sean proposes to Jess.
It's Kinda Rock 'n' Roll
Chief Exec Peter calls an emergency meeting to force Connie’s resignation. Jess accepts Sean’s marriage proposal. Sean realizes that Zubin is the father of Jess’s baby.
Not Just A River In Egypt
Sean and Jess call off the wedding. Chrissie asks Connie to employ Mark full-time. Dominic Fryer starts work as the new teaching consultant but Diane and Emma accuse him of rape.
Damage Limitation
Connie’s investigation into Dominic’s death blames Zubin. Owen is angry when he finds out that Dominic was the man who raped Diane.
No Pain No Gain
Will rebuffs Chrissie’s advances. Dominic’s son Daniel vows to make Zubin pay for his father’s death.
Losing Control
Chrissie urges Will not to settle for second best in his marriage to Diane. Diane tells Will she’s pregnant.
Something In The Air
Word spreads around the hospital that Diane is pregnant. The coroner records a verdict of misadventure in the Dominic Fryer case. Zubin tells Jess he wants to leave the hospital.
Love, Lies and Loss
Diane has a miscarriage. Connie suggests to the board that Zubin should resign. Jess tells Zubin they should give their relationship a second chance.
Patience
Ric is angry when his ex-wife Lola joins Holby as the new registrar. The board decide to keep Zubin on. Ric resigns to work in Ghana with his brother.

Pleasant Surprises
Tricia is shocked to see Carlos on the ward. Carlos tells Tricia he asked for his patient to be treated at Holby so that he could see her again. Mubbs suffers a heart attack.
If It Ain't Broke
Carlos tells Tricia he has got her a bed at a private hospital for her breast op. Carlos tells Tricia he loves her. Mubbs refuses to make lifestyle changes following his heart op.
Rat Race
Diane’s back at work but is shocked by the changes Connie has made. The pair clash. Diane tells Owen she wants to go to Ghana to bring back Ric. The staff reapply for their jobs.
Tuesday's Child
Diane arrives in Ghana and tells Ric she is still in love with him. Ric tells her to go home to her husband, Owen and not to make a mess of her life.
Ostrich Mode
Diane feels she emotionally betrayed Owen whilst in Africa. Tricia’s bandages come off after her breast op and she's flattered when Mark and Carlos vie for her affections.
Home Is Where The Hurt Is
Jess is bearing up after the traumatic birth of her baby. She’s surprised by a visit from Ric who tells her he’s not going back to Ghana. Suddenly, Jess’s condition deteriorates.
Best Laid Plans
Rick tells the board Connie’s new system is unworkable, forcing Connie to halt the trial. Katie tells Diane that her marriage to Owen won’t last.
Soft Centred
Owen’s pre-occupation with his ex-wife Lauren leads to near fatal consequences with a patient. Ric wants his old job back. Tricia offers a homeless Mark a room at her place.
Dignity
Owen fights for access to his daughter Katie. Chrissie decides to secretly track down Mark’s father. Jess struggles with her new baby, frustrated that Zubin is a natural father
The Innocents Part One
Frank needs an emergency operation. Ex-patient Kirsty, annoyed at having her advances rejected by Owen runs out of the hospital and is hit by an ambulance. Ric is put on desk duty.
The Innocents Part Two
Frank dies. Connie tells Michael she discovered Frank had MRSA. Kirsty continues her false claim that Owen kissed her but Diane uncovers the truth and tells the hearing.
Thinking Outside The Box
Chrissie is shocked to discover that Frank had MRSA. An emergency board meeting is called. Michael calls for Connie’s resignation. Jess is still struggling with motherhood.
View From The Side Line
Michael asks Lisa to resign over the MRSA incident. He offers Chrissie the job. Mubbs tries to charm Andy into giving him the consultant job. Tricia has the paternity test results.
Great Expectations
Lisa and Mubbs move in together. Abra (Adrian Edmondson) asks Lisa to go and work with him in Ghana. Tricia makes some clumsy mistakes at work.
Family Planning
Matt and Dean treat a patient unsupervised and are reprimanded by Owen. Jess passes her nursing exams but accuses Zubin of not supporting her.
All The Perfumes Of Arabia
Jess struggles to cope with her baby, Paris. Lola finds bruises on the baby’s body during a checkup. Michael tries to cover up a case of VRSA at the hospital.
Days Of Repentance
The VRSA is spreading throughout Holby. It’s the day of baby Paris’s funeral. Jess tells Zubin that they should split up. Zubin is heartbroken and tells Connie he wants to resign.
Doing The Right Thing
Chris and Connie expose Michael’s corruptness. Mubbs is told he must resign over the unsupervised treatment of a patient.
