Programme Synopsis
Sportswriter and sports fan P.J. Franklin (Jordana Spiro) has a no-nonsense approach to dating that can be troubling for her potential suitors. While pal Stephanie Layne (Kellee Stewart) presses her to be more feminine, P.J. can’t easily shed her tomboy skin, especially with extra-curricular duties that include hosting a weekly poker game and managing her friends’ baseball team. With an inner circle that includes her henpecked brother Andy (Jim Gaffigan), Chicago Cubs exec Mike Callahan (Jamie Kaler), sports memorabilia maven Kenny Moritorri (Michael Bunin) and radio DJ Brendan Dorff (Reid Scott), P.J. is living large in a man’s world. But in her quest to define herself in a man’s world, this young woman learns it doesn’t always pay to be one of the boys! Still, P.J. refuses to compromise her principles and is always ready to give it her best shot.

Pilot
Chicago newspaper sportswriter P.J. Franklin’s life as a woman living and working in a man’s world is challenged when she’s attracted to a handsome new colleague in the press box.
Mixed Signals
P.J. isn’t sure what to think after Bobby comes home from a road game bearing gifts, and then shows up at Crowley’s Tavern with a beautiful woman on his arm.
Team Chemistry
As P.J.’s efforts to play matchmaker for Stephanie cause a rift to open up between them, she learns that everyone knows about her and Bobby.
The Slump
After concluding that they are all in a dating slump, P.J. persuades her friends to take her with them on their night of hunting for women.
The Show
As Brendan drops a bombshell about his on-again, off-again girlfriend, P.J.’s “grownup” dates with Hank leave her friends without a ringleader.
Clubhouse Poison
As she reluctantly agrees to get to know Brendan’s fiancée, P.J. decides that the time has come for her new boyfriend, Hank, to spend some time with her pals, too.
Free Agent
P.J. lies to Hank in order to join her friends for the first night of their annual game decathlon.

P.J. worries when Mike starts seeing a beautiful new woman with a penchant for dating celebrities.

After accepting his invitation to Chicago’s most exclusive club, P.J. discovers that Kenny’s highly-annoying friend, Trouty, may not be as bad as he seems.
When Heroes Fall From Grace
Everyone is stunned when P.J. and Andy’s Aunt Phyllis ends up in bed with Kenny.

The Promise of a New Season
As Brendan moves on to another girlfriend following his kiss with P.J., and Kenny starts dating a pregnant woman, Andy struggles to cope with his long commute from his new house in the suburbs.
Off Day
With PJ seeing stars when she’s invited to appear as a guest on a cable sports show, Stephanie is sure they can both find boyfriends in time for a fall vacation in Italy. Andy solves a commuting nightmare by rooming with Mike, while Kenny gets a little too attached to Kimmie’s unborn baby.
Ethics
Brandon is chosen as one of “Chicago’s Fifty Sexiest Bachelors” while PJ contemplates an ethically questionable relationship with the new Cubs pitcher.
Dirty Little Secrets
As they learn that Bobby comes from a wealthy family and Stephanie admits to being deeply in debt, everyone suspects that Kenny’s new girlfriend is a figment of his imagination.
Second Chances
As P.J. senses romance in her future when an old boyfriend returns to town, Mike convinces Kenny to give him a job. Stephanie is given some harsh medicine by her handsome debt counselor, while Brendan tries to keep his dating options open.
Douchebag in the City
As P.J. Discovers that she and her old college friend, Lyssa, have little in common anymore, she and the guys worry how Brendan has changed since being named one of the city’s sexiest bachelors.
The Estates of Hoffman
At the suburban barbecue that finds Brendan, Mike, and Kenny competing for the attention of an attractive divorcee, Andy starts to worry that he is becoming too much like his parents.
110 Percent Solution
As P.J. makes the mistake of inviting her new boyfriend to poker night, Andy’s mid-life crisis leads him to buy a boat without telling his wife.
Rome, If You Want To
Dateless just three days before she is supposed to leave for Italy, P.J. Is suddenly deluged with offers by a trio of handsome men who are willing to join her.
