Strong Medicine
Programme Synopsis
Strong Medicine features two female doctors practicing women’s medicine. Dr. Dana Stowe (Janine Turner) is the head of women's medicine at Rittenhouse Hospital and doesn't let her emotions get in the way of her work. Dr. Luisa “Lu” Delgado (Rosa Blasi) runs an inner city clinic and does whatever it takes to get her poverty-stricken clients the care they need.
When the two women are paired up to run the Rittenhouse Women’s Health Center, they must learn to work together even with their respective approaches clearly on opposite sides of the operating table.

Positive
As Dana looks for someone to help her have a baby of her own, Lu is forced to deal with the potentially deadly consequences of providing a teenage girl with contraceptives.
Outcomes
Dana’s efforts to save a girl’s life with fetal stem cells may jeopardize the clinic’s government funding; Lu suspects that a young girl’s breathing disorder is actually a result of her mother’s efforts to be seen as a hero.
Stages
Lu treats a woman whose immune system disorder is threatening her ability to be a mother; Dana tries to convince a popular minister to stop trying to hide the fact that she’s going blind.

Dana agrees to help a teenage cancer patient die, Lu’s assumptions about a patient’s bruises spark violence.
Compassionate Release
As lax prison medical care leaves an inmate fighting for her life, Dana is called on to perform a delicate in utero procedure to repair a fetal heart.

As Dana’s efforts to adopt reveal that the baby has an older sister, Lu seeks to cure a homeless girl’s seizures.

Dana’s replacement, a spit and polish Army physician, rubs Lu the wrong way.

A woman learns her miscarriages are the result of her own mother’s taking a powerful drug during pregnancy; Lu and Andy square off over using a drug to help an addict from dying after an overdose.

A woman claiming to be Lu’s half-sister arrives at the hospital suffering from lung cancer; Andy discovers a horrible secret behind a four-year-old girl’s irreversible coma.

Andy is asked to help save the life of an old West Point classmate who is aboard the international space station.

As Andy finds herself caught between a concerned mom and her schizophrenic daughter, she warns Lu that a patient’s arm may be infected with a deadly, flesh-eating bacteria.

As they vie to deliver the first baby of the New Year, Lu’s young cancer patient is arrested for being a terrorist, while Andy treats an arthritic woman who needs her hands to speak.

An old childhood friend turns to Lu for help when his mother takes ill; Andy is determined to help a young woman overcome a potentially crippling condition in order to qualify for ROTC.

Her father’s illness forces Andy to consider exposing some secrets that could damage the Army’s reputation; Lu questions a court order to remove a newborn from her mother who’s been accused of murdering her first child.

As Andy looks to solve the mystery of a patient’s West Nile Virus, Lu helps a young boy and his mom cope with his fatal illness.

Problems at home lead to Andy being struck in anger by her husband.

Andy tells her children about Les’s abuse; Lu uncovers a sorority’s drinking problem.
Degeneration
A couple is faced with having to decide which of their two ailing children will receive a life saving operation.
Risk
Lu’s efforts to help a depressed patient is complicated by her arrest for refusing to cooperate with a murder investigation; Andy and Les reunite for their daughter’s surgery, while Robert faces a demon from his past.
