Swept From The Sea

Ukranian sailor Yanko Góral is swept overboard during a storm on his way to America. The storm causes the ship to be wrecked off the coast of Cornwall killing all left on board. At first he is unable to communicate, as he does not speak English, and his connection to the wreck is not realised so he is put to work. Soon after it is discovered that he can play chess his situation changes as the locals begin to treat him in a more civilised manner.
